MATCH REPORT: 13-05-2007 : B&BRTC (Bristol & Bath), Lost 3 : 2
Following an early Fulham meet and an amusing journey, the majority of the OT team arrived at B&B to find David Bax already on court. Even with the added support (distraction), he was unable to defeat his opponent, losing 6/2 6/3. Will Chawner then managed to level the score with a 6/3 6/1 win. Following that Richard Dalzell won comfortably 6/2 6/2, to take the OT's into an early lead. Will Chawner then managed to set up an exciting final by losing his second singles match rather too easily (6/5 6/2), allowing Anthony Osmond-Evans and Ian Stephenson, who incidentally was playing in his first OT real tennis match, the opportunity to bring home the glory. Although the final doubles match went to the wire, the OT's unfortunately couldn't quite grasp victory, losing 6/5 6/1. The afternoon was completed with two extra doubles matches, first Ian Stephenson partnered David Bax and then Richard Dalzell and Anthony Osmond-Evans secured a consolation victory.
During the day the OT's were fed and watered well by B&B and OT member David Bax.
Next year's fixture will be on March 2nd 2008; we aim to make a weekend of the fixture, possibly including a game of golf - so please keep the date free.
