MATCH REPORT: 29-02-2008 : Queen's Club (Queen's, W14), Won 4 : 2

The evening began with what was to be the closest of matches with Chawner and Dalzell taking on Ridd and Halse. After starting well and establishing a reasonable early lead Richard and Will faced a determined fight back from the QC pair. So the match went down to the final game, and was won by Queen's with a rather remarkable winning shot from Ridd, who played a high ball which then serenely bounced into the dedans to take the victory.

The second game saw Gook and Ludden playing Frost and Mansfield. The OTs started rather slowly this time, and were soon 4-1 down. But as the errors became less frequent the game swung back the other way, and with Jim firing his left-hand drives down the court and Chris doing his best to stay out of the way the match finished at 9-4. The winning pair then went on to play Frost and Ridd in another good game, but with their momentum still working for them the OTs soon claimed another victory with a 9-5 win.

Chawner and Moxom managed to win their match against MacGregor and Thorpe 9-5. Frost now had an opportunity to make Ludden pay for his doubles victories, and gave a great display winning their singles match without dropping a game, Jim came off wondering what had happened and a bemused smile on his face!

The last doubles match saw Dalzell and Moxom take on Thorpe and MacGregor, which ended in a 9-7 victory to leave the OTs winning the match by 4 matches to 2.

As ever much of the evening's enjoyment lay ahead as the bar and dinner were to come, and again I think the OTs held their own in this department as well.
